Using an iPhone to keep a baby entertained doesnt sound like the best idea I’ve ever heard. But that is just what the iBabyBuddy is trying to get you to do. An iPhone app that is “designed to entertain, stimulate and teach your child through interaction and discovery”, the iBabyBuddy turns your beloved iPhone into what amounts to a very technologically advanced and expensive baby rattle.

Now, I’ll admit, being without spawn, I can imagine that there are times where a parent will do almost anything to keep their child occupied and quiet, but this seems like a bit of overkill.
he first release of iBabyBuddy features iconic animal characters that make noises and vibrate in response to baby’s movement and interaction.
Yes, but what happens when the baby gets excited about the “interaction’ and hurls your phone across the kitchen or out of the car window? I bet you’ll get some interaction out of the parents on that one. Also, I don’t really see the iPhone’s plastic and glass construction being the best on little teeth, and you know it’s going to happen!
Even after checking the app out and reading all of the market speak, I’m still not all that conviced. I d0n’t think this is the most cost effective way to amuse your child. I don’t know perhaps you should just hand them a stack of hundred dollar bills to tear up instead?
But, if the idea of having a pacifier with you wherever you go, then the iBabybuddy is available on the App Store for $1.99.

Once you have spawn…you will realize that you must supervise everything that they do… and you would probably put a protective case on the phone…. and you would have the window closed in the car!…
You know.. You’re probably right on that one. I have a new nephew coming along in a couple of weeks so maybe down the road I can donate my old 2G to science and we’ll see how that goes!
