The Jailbreak landscape is always evolving, so there are always new apps to check out. If you’re a newbie or an experienced Jailbreaker, here are some great apps available through Cydia or some of the other major Jailbroken app installers.
Action Menu: Adds extra features to your “Copy/Paste” popup menu. Includes Select All Copy All and Favorites. Free
3G Unrestrictor: Allows you to use 3G in many apps that normally restrict it. Allows you to download any size file in App Store or iTunes, overcoming the 10MB file limit. Also works with Skype and many other programs that restrict 3G. Also improves quality of YouTube videos over Edge and 3G. $1.99
Weathericon: Slick little app that places live weather information on top of the standard Weather app’s icon. As it should have been from the start. Free
Quickreply: QuickReply is a plugin that allows you to reply to a new SMS right from the onscreen popup screen, so there is no need to have to exit your current application to reply to a SMS message. Pretty nifty indeed. This application also gives you the option to call the contact instead of replying via SMS which is also a nice feature to have at your fingertips.
Safari Download Manager: Finally download files to your iPhone directly. Great for use with iFile. Free
iFile: Allows you to browse your phones directory structure. Email multiple items. Create a web server to allow web page access to your iPhone on local wifi network. Free
Lock Info: View your email, sms, missed calls, calendars, voicemail and more right from your lock screen. 14-Day free trial, then: $4.99
YourTube: Allows saving youtube videos to your phone, a little plugin in the standard youtube app. Saved files can be played inside the YouTube app. very subtle and easy to use. Free
Veency: Lets you remotely control your iPhone from your computer desktop using a VNC client application like Chicken of the VNC. You can view the screen, touch controls, and activate physical controls such as the lock and menu buttons. Free
MyWi: Turns your iPhone into a WiFi hotspot. Better than tethering. Allows you to connect multiple devices and share your iPhone’s internet connection. $9.99
