Apple has just released iPhone 3.1.3 (7E18), a minor OS update for iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G, iPhone 2G, iPod touch G1, iPod touch G2, and iPod touch 3G. The update does almost nothing but should be a fairly harmless upgrade for those interested in keeping their iPhone current. Jailbreakers should avoid this update.
The update includes the following “major” changes:
- Fix for iPhone 3GS battery level reporting
- Fix for app crashes on launch
- Fix for app crashes while using Japanese Kana Keyboard
Details on the security-related changes in OS 3.1.3 can be found in Apple’s knowledge-base article.

This upgrade will ruin your iPhone 3G. My two month from brand new iphone immediately after doing this firmware update has a less than 12 hour life from full charge on standby. DO NO UPGRADE TO 3.1.3 !!!! YOU WILL REGRET IT.
Well, that’s the first I’ve heard of battery life getting worse with the update. Anyone else getting this issue?
