Use Your iPhone While it Syncs with Syncronicity

Another great iPhone Jailbreak tweak has appeared on the Cydia app store. Syncronicity is a simple app that allows you to use your iPhone while it syncs to your computer. No longer do you have to wait an hour while it syncs to start texting or browse your calendar.

iPhone iOS 4.0.2 Update Released, Only One Change

The iPhone iOS 4.0.2 Update is out, and all it does is fix the PDF exploit that makes Jailbreaking possible. This update will fix your iPhone’s security hole but it will also wipe out your Jailbreak. Go ahead and install it if you’re not a Jailbreaker. It contains no additional features or updates.

WARNING: Jailbreakers! Don’t Update to iOS 4.0.2

Yeah, it happens every time a new version of the iPhone software gets released, everyone scours the net to see if it’s safe to upgrade, and the answer is almost always no. Well it is again this time. Apple has released the i)S 4.0.2 update, patching the PDF exploit and making Jailbreaking or unlocking impossible until the iPhone Dev Team releases a new version of a Jailbreak tool like JailbreakMe. As of now however, this will prevent you from using JailbreakMe to Jailbreak your iPhone. I would advise against updating your iPhone if you’re a Jailbreaker.

If you don’t Jailbreak your iPhone, go ahead and update.

How to Use a Video as Your iPhone Wallpaper or Ringtone

Video wallpapers aren’t new to the iPhone, in fact vWallpaper has had a version of the vWallpaper app out for two years. It’s only now that the hardware can actually support it without making the performance totally take a crap though. vWallpaper now has a new version out for iOS 4 that will let you play a video as the background of your phone or even when someone calls you in place of a ringtone.

How to Install Flash on Your iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS

Ahh flash on the iPhone, you most elusive of monsters. I still get questions today about the iPhone running flash from almost everyone who gets one or wants to. Apple refuses to add it, Adobe complains about it, but the only person who does anything about it is Comex, the iPhone hacker who brought us [...]

Warning: Change Your SSH Password on Jailbroken iPhone

A while back, a Dutch hacker figured out how to use a “trivial” port scanning technique and a bit of networking knowledge in order to gain access to Jailbroken iPhones. This, along with new exploits like the PDF vulnerability are solid reasons to take more interest in the security of your Jailbroken iPhone. Here are a few things you can do.

SnapTap Lets You Snap Photos with iPhone Volume Buttons

SnapTap is one of those cool little utilities that makes a Jailbroken iPhone so much better than a stock one with just a few lines of code. If you’ve ever thought that smashing your finger forwards on the screen of your camera was a good way to get blurry photos, you’d be right, which is [...]

Apple’s Got a Fix Ready for That Jailbreak Security Flaw

The vulnerability in the code of the iOS PDF renderer that allows for the iPhone 4 Jailbreak and opens the door to malicious hacking has a fix and Apple is ready to implement it in the next software update. Erica Ogg at CNET is reporting that there are actually two separate flaws in the code [...]

Apple Will Not Be Bricking Jailbroken iPhones

I’ve been fielding questions since yesterday morning about a completely innacurate and blatantly false article title by Paul McDougall over at Information Week. The article heading plainly states that Apple may begin ‘bricking’ Jailbroken iPhones. The statement is so patently false and has so little to do with the actual content of the article, I think it must have been written by someone else… or monkeys. It’s so off-base that I almost don’t know where to begin….almost.

A Security Flaw in the iPhone OS Means that Jailbroken iPhones are Safer

The iPhone 4 Jailbreak released this weekend is clever, devious and simple. It also succeeds because it takes advantage of a teeny tiny flaw in a component of Apple’s new iPhone “iOS” operating system. The same flaw could easily be used by malicious hackers to corrupt your phones operating system and harvest data. Thankfully there’s a simple fix.
