The Knocking Live app was the first on the App Store to allow an iPhone to iPhone video stream, far before FaceTime arrived. The app was even personally approved by Steve Jobs after initially being rejected. The app has just been updated to support sound and the iPhone 4 features, unfortunately it’s still one-way video, but unlike Facetime, it does work on all iPhone models.
FaceTimeMod is a free tool that helps you manage the Frames Per Second that a Facetime session is pushing through your data connection. This allows you to greatly increase the quality of your WiFi Facetime sessions or even throttle back the quality for using it over 3G.
FaceTime is awesome, it’s easily the coolest thing about the iPhone 4 and it’s really amazing to use for the first time. There’s only one problem with it. You can’t use it anywhere you’d really want to. Who wants to see the back wall of my office or my watch me trundle around my house? [...]
I’ve gotten some questions regarding backing up SHSH files lately, which isn’t surprising considering the iminent release of the Spirit Jailbreak for iOS 4. There has been lots of talk about how you should always back up your SHSH ‘blobs’ (which just means a collection of files used to authenticate the firmware with Apple), but there has been some lack of clarity, even on my part, about which devices this actually applies to.
