You can’t do anything but walk around and gawk, but the tech demo that Epic Games showed off during the Apple live event today is available for download free from iTunes. It shows off just how amazing the iPhone 4 runs the super beefy Unreal engine.
The new iPod touch is here and it has all of the major features that we expected. A Retina Display to match the iPhone 4, Facetime video calling via a front-facing camera and a 3-axis gyro for more complex gaming. Some surprises include iOS 4.1 with Game Center integration and HD video recording.
From the dawn of the iPod, it seems that it has been Apples mission to ensure that your device is tied to one computer and one computer only. To say that this is annoying and impractical is making a huge understatement. If you own a device, the machine that it’s being hooked up to and the content that you’re transferring, why are you limited to just linking that device and computer once? Well the point comes down to money. If you’re not familiar with it already, MobileMe is Apple’s answer to a remote syncing service for the iPhone, allowing you to keep contacts, calendar appointments, images and more constantly synchronized to your iPhone on the go. Here’s how to do all of that cool stuff with FindmyiPhone..
This is definitely one of those “let’s try to make this viral” marketing videos but it deserves a mention because of it’s gross-out factor. Most of it is just funny, but there’s a nice kick at the end that will make you cringe. Enjoy.
Notes syncing has been around since early versions of the iPhone OS, but a new option to sync to MobileMe was added in iOS 4 to allow you to sync notes to the cloud. If you’ve had trouble syncing older notes to your iPhone with either the local method or MobileMe, there is a simple fix that may help you.
When the title screen of Super Mega Worm faded in on my iPhones screen, with that classic gold 8-bit text and bleeping, blooping soundtrack, it was love at first sight. Then I played the game and my devotion only grew stronger. A game where you get to play as a giant worm that eats humans, spits fire and can jump out of the ground, soaring through the air, raining down destruction? Sign me up.
Netflix has finally released an updated version of their app that works on the iPhone and iPod touch as well as the previously supported iPad. It’s great to have Netflix on all of the iDevices, but it’s still a long way from being a perfect experience. There are quite a few things that make you go “huh?” once you start playing around with the app.
